Topic C
Discussion Point: Presentation on Creative Carrboro
Decision/Vote(s): Anita Jones-McNair(Director,Town of Carrboro Recreation and Parks) and Annette
Stone (Director,Town of Carrboro Community and Economic Development) made a presentation about
the next steps for Creative Carrboro.Their committee decided against a formal arts district designation
for Carrboro. Creative Carrboro wants to create collaboration between various arts entities (Carrboro Arts
Committee, Orange County Arts Commission, Economic Sustainability Commission, etc.) in Orange
County. Our understanding was that representatives from these groups would develop a five-year plan
that would be presented to the Carrboro Board of Aldermen.Their idea may be that these groups would
collectively implement the plan once approved. The OCAC board had questions about the exact goal of
this collective group, who would fund the plan's implementation, and how this new committee's work
would overlap with the three groups' existing missions. OCAC board members were concerned about the
lack of a clear mission and resources for the proposed group, and wanted more information and clarity.

Topic D
Discussion Point: Director's Report
Decision/Vote(s): The current extended deadline for the NC General Assembly to adjourn is supposed to
be mid-August, but may need to be extended again to finish the state's FY16 budget. The proposed
increase in FY16 Grassroots funds is in the Conference Committee. If the Conference Committee agrees to
the entire$500,000 increase in Grassroots funds statewide, Orange County would get an increase of
$6,701. Any Orange County increase is likely to be around $3,000-$4,000.The Durham Arts Council's
Emerging Artists Program discipline panels will meet in October. One or two OCAC board members are
needed to serve on various discipline panels. Please let staff know if you'd like to serve.Their Full

to work on these policies. The final version will then go to the County Manager for approval. A"Save the
Date" email has gone out for the OCAC's 301h Anniversary celebration on September 3, 2015. The 301h
Anniversary Committee should meet soon to finalize planning. There has been a good response from
