I. Hoke called the meeting to order at 6:50 following some building access problems.
II. Nissler moved,Albert seconded to approve the December,2016 minutes. Motion passed.
III. Board Member Applications
o Rfley moved,Albert seconded to approve Tarish Rpkinstojoin the OCAC board. Motion
passed.
o Nissler moved,Albert seconded to approve Anita MilIstojoin the OCAC board. Motion
passed.
IV. Director's F;bport
o Murray asked for volunteers to serve on ajury panel at the North American Travel
Journalist National Conference. Contact Katie via email to volunteer.
o Arts Day is March 29th in Raleigh. Mayer and Murraywill attend.
o Murray hasapproached Kristin Prellip, Director Hillsborough Arts Council about
partnering on athree day Rein Air Paint-Cut event. DetailsTBD.
o .brdy has agreed to serve Term 2
o Nissler has agreed to serve Term 2
o M ayer has agreed to serve Term 1
o Saylers' Term 1 expiring March 31,2017
o Rfley's partial term expiring March 31,2017
o Ian Bowater has resigned from the OCACboard
V. Proposed Changes to Grant Process
o Ad hoc subcommittee of Nissler, Mayer and Murray presented proposed changes to the
grant process. Following discussion Rfley moved, Mayer seconded to approve the
changes as amended. (SAbsequent to this meeting, Murray distributed a final copy of
the Grant Process for 2017-18. Copy attached.)
M. Ran of Action for 2017-18
o Murray review her plans and goals for the coming year. The Board agreed that the plan
is comprehensive and ambitious.
MI. Administrative aructure of OCAC
o Murray stressed that the achievement of the goals identified in her Ran will require
some administrative changes. Friend moved,Albert seconded to approve Murray to
take next stepsto pursue these changes. Motion passed.
VIII. Liaison F;bports
o Hoke reported on a presentation to the Visitor's Bureau byAsheville's Director of
Tourism.
o Friend reported that the Hillsborough Arts Council has been successful in securing some
corporate grants. The Mystery Brewing fundraising event will take place each Monday
in March. HACis developing an annual fundraising/events calendar. TheAlliancefor
Historic Hillsborough and HACwill be exploring opportunities for"much needed" public
art. (AHH contact information provided to Albert.)
o Albert reported some difficulties in meeting with Chapel Hill RablicArtsCommission.
Murray anticipates improvement.
o Nissler reported that the Carrboro Arts group is meeting concurrent with this meeting.
IX Funding Proposal from The Arts Center.
o Fbl lowing discussion(Mayer was excused from the room) Rfley moved, Friend seconded
to approve granting$5,000 to The Arts Center to add Title I school, Grady Brown,to The
Art Center'sYouth Education program. Motion passed.
X Hoke adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m.
