I. Hoake called the meeting to order at 6:30.
II. Nissler moved, .brdy seconded to approve the February,2017 minutes as amended. Motion
passed.
III. Hoake announced that .by Saylers'sterm ends on March 31�. Many thanksto Joy for her
service and valuable contributions!
IV. Board Member Updates
o The BOCChas approved Tarish Rpkins and Anita Millstojoin the board effective April,
2017
o Nissler reported on the work of the ad hoc board development subcommittee which
met on March Yh. Albert moved, .brdy seconded to approve the committee's
recommendation to ask BOOCto approve Consuelo Marshall and Helen.ones. Motion
passed.
o Murray asked members to consider volunteering to serve as Vice President.
V. Director's F;bport
o Murray asked for volunteers to serve on ajury panel at the North American Travel
Journalist National Conference. Merritt and Keefe have volunteered.
o The NCArts Council report was submitted on March 1�.
o Murray plans to circulate electronic surveys by the end of March. Sle wil I also setup
follow-up listening sessions. Murray asked that at least one board member plan to
attend each listening session. Coal of the survey isto establish what are the primary
challenges in the arts community.
o Changes tot he OCAC grant processes were approved by the BOCICon March 7th. It was
decided to meet in July for grant review. No meeting in December.
o Murray will have update on possible structure changes in May.
o M urray provided guidance and darification regarding the Orange County Outside
Agency proposals.
M. Liaison Fbports
o Hoake reported that the Msitor's Bureau anticipates a 5%increase to their budget due
to new hotel/motel rooms coming on line. Msitor's Bureau marketing plan makes heavy
use of digital advertising. It would be good to add video to our marketing efforts.
o Friend alerted the Hillsborough Arts Council to the changes in our grant process.
o Murray for Albert: Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission: Fbcommendedthat OCACfocus
on public art opportunities in Orange County rather than Chapel Hill.
