Board members present: Tim hbke, Chair, Doris Friend, lbuetary, Lynne Albert, Tinka,brdy, Delia Keffe,
Jan Fbgers, Dan Mayer, Bronwyn Merritt,Consuelo Marshall,Anita Mills,Tarish Rpkins, Helen Jones
Board members absent: Ashley Nissler
Saff members present: Katie Murray, Director
I. Hoke called the meeting to order at 6:30. Welcome to new members Consuelo Marshall,
Anita Mills,Tarish Rpkins and Helen Jones.
II. Albert moved, F;bgersseconded to approve the March,2017 minutes. Motion passed.
III. Andrea Rfley has submitted her resignation. Many thanks to Andrea for her service and
valuable contributions! We now have two board vacancies. Murray will meet with two
applicants and bring her recommendation to the Board at the May meeting.
IV. Director's Fbport:
• Murray, Mayer and Nissler attended Arts Day in Raleigh. There was good
representation from Orange County and good conversation with elected officials.
• The recently announced changes to our grant cycle and process have been well
received thus far.
• Board members are reminded that our grant panel meeting will be held on
Saturday, July 151h from 10:00 to 4:00 at the Link Building in Hillsborough. Thiswill
be an open meeting.
V. Liaison Fbports:
• Hoke: The Visitor's Bureau is gearing up for the National Association of Travel
.burnalistsmeeting. HB2 is still a concern.
• Friend: The Hillsborough Arts Council has a new logo. The Arts and Craft Slow at
the Visitor's Center is coming up on April 22nd. The 2017 Last Ridayswill start on
April 28th. "Papunzel" (which received a OCACgrant)will be performed at 6:30 at
the Stickworks installation. HACis planning to offer one or two art classes this
summer. Interest has been strong.
• Albert: Updated new members about plans for anew piece of public art at the
Animal Sielter.
• Mills: The Orange County Artists Guild has elected twelve new members including a
very talented middle school student.
• Mayer: The Arts Center fundraising gala on April 8ch was a success. About 120
people attended and$50Kwas raised. There are a lot of international and local
music events coming up as well as Fete Seeger retrospective. TACis partnering
with school s to"bul k purchase" school shows. TACwiII offer"kindergarten
readiness" to 60 1 ow i noome fam i I i es t hi s summer.
• F;bgers: "My Fair Lady' just opened at Raymakers. The 2017-18 season has been
announced and indudesthe premier of awork by Mike Wiley and Hidden Voioes.
Raymakers participated in UNCsArt Everywhere Day on campus.
,brdy suggested that OCACdevelop a three-minute video of related art events for presentation to the
Orange County Commissioners.
