HomeMy WebLinkAboutNursing Home CAC minutes 090616MINUTES ORANGE COUNTY NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING Sept. 6, 2016 The meeting was called to order by Chair, Teri Driscoll, at 5:30 pm. The following members were present: Teri Driscoll, Chair, Sandra Nash, Vibeke Talley, Jerry Schreiber, Martha Bell, Ed Flowers, Jackie Podger, Mary Fraser, Dept. of Aging and Autumn Pittman, Ombudsman. Susie Deter, Jerry Gregory and Molly Stein were excused. Dr. Carol Kelly was introduced as a potential new member. The minutes of the July 5, 2016 meeting was approved. A Site Visit Report for Carol Woods was discussed but not approved until more information about locked med carts were addressed. A Site Visit Report for Brookshire was approved and it was noted that they are accepting more hospice patients. Carolina Pointe Site Visit was discussed -there was concern about a broken door in the handicapped stall in the visitor bathroom area; there was concern about the amount of patients in bed as well as the noise level of staff. This report was approved and these concerns will be addressed again in the next Exit Interview when the Site Visit is done for the last quarter of the year. The Site Visit for Signature was approved -it was noted that they will be expanding, especially in the parking area. The Ombudsman said that she would watch for the progress there. Report of Mary Fraser, DOA : Focus Groups were being held for the 5 Year Plan- 2017 -2011. There will be two large group meetings, one on Oct. 26 from 9 -12 at the Seymour Center and one on Oct. 28 from 1:30 -4:30 at the Passmore Center. Everyone is invited to attend one of these meetings. of Autumn Pittman. Ombudsman: Autumn gave an introduction of herself and her role. She is currently an Ombudsman in Chatham for both the Nursing Home CAC and the Adult Home Care CAC and she is the Ombudsman in Lee County for the Adult Home Care CAC only. She announced that there will be a Leadership Training for new and current officers at the Triangle J office on Sept. 28, 2016 from 9:30 -2:30. New Business: Decision on Perspective New Member: 100% in favor of Dr. Carol Kelly joining our committee. Teri will advise Thom Freeman who will get it placed on the calendar for approval. That means out committee is full. Site visits are due to be completed by December 31, 2016. Our next meeting will be held on January 3, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the Seymour Center.
