ORANGE COUNTY NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
May3, 2016
The meeting was called to order by Chair, Teri Driscoll, at 5:30 pm.
The following members were present: Teri Driscoll, Chair, Sandra Nash, Vibeke Talley, Susie Deter, Jerry
Schreiber, Glenda Floyd, Jerry Gregory, Molly Stein, Martha Bell, Ed Flowers, Mary Fraser, Dept. of Aging and
Carolyn Pennington, Ombudsman.
Ed Flowers was welcomed back after a year of absence.
The minutes of the Mar. 1, 2016 meeting was approved.
Site visit report for Carol Woods was accepted (as amended). Site Visit report for Carolina Pointe was accepted.
Report of Mary Fraser, DOA:
Direct Care Awards are on May 26 at 4:30 pm at the Passmore Center. 42 people have been nominated; 12
different agencies participated. All nursing homes in the county were represented.
May 191h at 7 pm -Aging in Community - Planning for our Future will be presented. This pertains to nursing home
modules from Canada and elsewhere which will be discussed.
Report of Carolyn Pennington, Ombudsman:
A new Ombudsman will be hired soon. Triangle J was going over the duties before posting the job. Inas AI -Rawas
is no longer with us.

Currently there are two openings for our committee. Please look for people that are willing to serve.
A gift for each member from the County Commissioners for volunteer month was presented.
Nursing home visits must be completed prior to June 20, 2016. Please get site visit reports to Teri as soon as you
possibly can. No reference to any particular name or room number should to be used in the report.
Our next meeting will be July 5, 2016 at 5:30 pm at the Seymour Center.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
