HomeMy WebLinkAboutNursing Home CAC minutes 010317MINUTES ORANGE COUNTY NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING Jan 3, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Chair, Teri Driscoll, at 5:30 pm. The following members were present: Teri Driscoll, Chair, Sandra Nash, Vibeke Tally, Jerry Schreiber, Ed Flowers, Glenda Floyd, Susie Deter, Jerry Gregory, Martha Bell, Jackie Podger, Mary Fraser, Dept. of Aging and Autumn Pittman, Ombudsman. Dr. Carol Kelly and Molly Stein were excused. Yvonne Mendenhall from the Adult Care CAC came back to our meeting to try and recruit volunteers to help with her Smile Surprise Program. She advised that members on the Adult Care CAC are going to be working on it so the program is moving ahead. If interested, she asked that you contact her directly and a brochure on the program is available. The minutes of the Nov. 1, 2016 meeting was approved. Report of Mary Fraser, DOA: The new MAP Program study groups will begin meeting and reports will be made available. Report of Autumn Cox, Ombudsman: New CAC training is available at Triangle J on Jan. 11. Anyone on our committee may participate in refresher training, if interested. There are new regulations from the Federal Government on Nursing Homes that has been implemented and we received a Power -Point handout. Site Visit Reports: Brookshire - Report accepted. Carol Woods- Report accepted with changes as discussed. Carolina Pointe - Report accepted with changes — Question 5A will be removed from the report. Signature- Report accepted. New Business: It was advised that you contact your facility before doing your site visit this quarter to see if a flu- precaution has been imposed. A discussion on reports to the Dept. of Aging was held and it was decided not to make a report as was suggested by the Chairperson of that committee. Vibeke Tally has been reappointed for 3 more years by the BOCC. Discussion about new officers and an election will occur at the Mar. meeting. Resignation of Ed Flowers from the committee was discussed by himself due to health issues. The BOCC sends new applicants to Teri and the Ombudsman when they come in and they screen them to see if they would be a good fit for us. The meeting dates for 2017 were distributed and approved. Out next meeting will be held on May 2, 2017. The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 pm. Respectfully submitted, Sandra Nash, Secretary
