Report from the Department on Aging, Mary Fraser
The Department on Aging is working on developing their next 5 -year Master Aging Plan (MAP).
Phase One: Mary has sent us a link to an electronic survey which attempts to measure
citizens' aging concerns. She encouraged us to forward to other groups as well.
Phase Two: A series of focus groups will be taking place, throughout the county,
tomorrow (at Mapleview Dairy's Agricultural /Education Center) through August 11tH
Mary encourages us to attend since it will be an excellent way to share our concerns
about LTC issues. She will email us the schedule for the focus groups.
Phase Three: On Oct 26th in Chapel Hill, and on October 28th in Hillsborough, survey
results and focus group information will be shared, where they will solicit more feedback
to assist with prioritizing the goals.
Dementia - Friendly Community update — Orange County Departments have been mandated to
do this as well as the Town of Chapel Hill, including bus drivers. In the public sector and private
business community, 30 have been trained plus 12 scheduled. 50% of their public- facing
employees go through the training. Promote this as you are able.
