HomeMy WebLinkAboutAdult Care CAC minutes 031617Orange County Adult Care Community Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes March 16, 2017 Meeting convened: Meeting call to order at 3:39 pm at the Passmore Center in Hillsborough, NC by Chairman Max Mason. Attendance: Max Mason, Chair Jack Vogt, Member Beverly Foster, Member Suzanne Haff, Member Gloria Brown, Member Christine "Cresha" Cianciolo, Member William Lang, Member Deborah Rider, Member Members excused: Deborah Stewart, Secretary Yvonne Mendenhall, Vice Chair James Bartow, Member Review Minutes, January 19, 2017 Approved Ombudsman report, Autumn Cox Ms. Cox, unable to attend the meeting, provided Chair Mason with the following information that he shared with the Committee: The Triangle J Area Agency on Aging Ombudsman Program will host a meeting that will focus on the issue of elder abuse. Attendance for the meeting is limited to 40 CAC members from "across the region." Information including date, time, location and registration information was sent to all CAC members. The White Rock Baptist Church Health Ministry will host a meeting about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Information was sent to CAC members. The license for LiveWell Assisted Living of Chapel Hill was suspended and conditionally reinstated due to life- safety issues identified at the home. Report from the Department of Aging, Mary Fraser Ms. Fraser, unable to attend the meeting, provided Chair Mason with the following information that he shared with the Committee: Nominations are being sought for direct care worker awards. Information about the SHARP awards, including the nomination form is available on the Orange County Department of Aging web page. Board of Aging Updates, Yvonne Mendenhall Ms. Mendenhall, unable to attend the meeting, provided Chair Mason with the following information that he shared with the Committee: Provision of additional details regarding the site visit reports prepared by members of the Committee was received with appreciation and interest by the members of the Board of Aging. (The BOA had requested more detailed information that would keep them informed of trends at individual facilities.) Visitation reports Brookdale (2/17/2017) — approved with minor edits. The Stratford (2/23/2017) - approved with minor edits. Carillon (3/7/2017) - approved with minor edits. Carol Woods (2/17/2017) — approved with minor edits. Crescent Green (2/23/2017) — approve with minor edits. Housekeeping Members discussed how to improve the type, consistency and clarity of information presented in the site visit reports, to ensure the usefulness of the reports to the public. Chair Mason shared that he would be attending the 3/28/2017 work session of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners. The Committee was presented, considered, and agreed to new site visit teams. These new teams will begin their work during the 2nd quarter site visits. Chair Mason was asked to send individual member contact information to members of the Committee. Next meeting The Committee agreed to meet next on May 18, 2017 at the Passmore Center.
