PURPOSE: To consider the legal advertisement for items to be presented at the Joint Planning
Area Public Hearing scheduled for October 19, 2006.
BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners reviews proposals to be considered at
public hearing for consistency with general County policy and presentation format, The
following item is proposed for consideration at the October 19, 2006 Joint Planning Area Public
Hearing,
1. Chapel Hill Joint Planning Transition Area Zoning Atlas Amendment
PURPOSE: To hear public comment on a proposed rezoning of 21.5 acres of property at the
southwest corner of Homestead Road and Seawell School Road from Residential-2 to
Residential-4 Conditional. The rezoning request is to accommodate the construction of 72
residential dwelling units. The site is located within the Chapel Hill portion of the Joint Planning
Transition Area.

Size: 21.5 acres
Location: Southwest corner of Homestead Road and Seawell School Road

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Other than advertising costs, there are no direct financial impacts
associated with the approval of this item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Administration recommends APPROVAL of the proposed
October 19, 2006 Joint Planning Area Public Hearing legal advertisement..
NOTICE OF JOINT PLANNING PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing will be held in the Southern Human Services Center, 2501
Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at
7:30 P.M. for the purpose of giving all interested citizens an opportunity to speak for
or against the following item:
1. Chapel Hill Joint Planning Transition Area Zoning Atlas Amendment
Purpose: To hear public comment on a proposed rezoning of 21.5 acres of
property at the southwest corner of Homestead Road and Seawell School Road

The zoning atlas amendment requires the approval of the Arange County
Commissioners and Chapel Hill Town Council.
