HomeMy WebLinkAboutASAB minutes 111610 FROM: Animal Services Advisory Board SUBJECT: Monthly Meeting DATE: Tuesday, November 16, 2010 LOCATION: Community Services Room, Animal Services Center ____________________________________________________________________________ MEMBERS PRESENT: Susan Elmore, Jean Connerat-Austin, Kristine Bergstrand, Dan Textoris, Lori Lumpkin, Andy Uhl, Aviva Scully MEMBERS ABSENT: Suzanne Roy, Tracy Carroll, Sue Millager STAFF PRESENT: Bob Moratto, Sarah Falin ____________________________________________________________________________ Beginning time of meeting: 6:30 Resident recognition and appreciation  Board expressed appreciation to Wendy Stewart and Jane Vacchiano from Hillsborough Elementary School for sustained and substantial donations. Certificates of appreciation were given to both Ms. Stewart and Ms. Vacchiano. Old Business ASAB Appointments (information only, no votes)  Welcome to New Members Lori Lumpkin (at-large, non-municipal) and Andy Uhl (professional certified animal handler/trainer)  Two other vacancies to be filled are at-large, general and animal welfare/rescue group representative  Q&A session with ASAB applicant Suzie Armstrong New Business 2011 ASAB officer selection  Board voted unanimously via secret ballot to elect Kristine Bergstrand as Chair and Suzanne Roy as Vice-Chair 2011 meeting schedule and ASAB Board members’ name/contact/term information  Distributed to board members and approved by members Information for BOCC retreat  ASAB staff prepared requested information on 2010 accomplishments and 2011 work plan  Vote: unanimous to accept the document with minor changes Animal Services updates (information only)  Pat Sanford and Elliott Kramer have requested a discussion of intraregional transfer of animals to northern parts of the country and creation of a subcommittee to review animal ordinances o Bob will meet with Pat and Elliott and report back to the ASAB board  Home for the Holidays activities update  Placement Partner Agreement update— Staff will continue to carefully monitor responses from groups to determine whether partners will be lost, etc.  Web-based licensing  New Hanover Hearing and Fine Model—Staff will provide a more detailed review of this model of fine and fee collection at the January meeting.  October monthly report Meeting adjourned at: 8:30 pm Name of Minute Taker: Susan Elmore
