MEMBERS ABSENT: Kristine Bergstrand
STAFF PRESENT: Bob Marotto (Animal Services Director)
Agenda: Motion to approve agenda passed and agenda unanimously approved
Summary of November 28, 2012 meeting: Reviewed and unanimously approved
General Public Comments on items not on the agenda: None
ASAB Board Affairs:
• Officer Election: Unanimous election of Susan Elmore as Chair, Michele Walker as Vice-Chair,
and Kris Bergstrand and Susan Roy as Secretary (with Ms. Bergstrand serving through July 1 and
Ms. Roy serving thereafter)
• Table of contents for ASAB Manual presented and discussed. Board requested the addition of a
communication section and an index of departmental standard operating procedures and
agreed it should be distributed electronically.
• Dangerous Dog Reviews: No hearings since last meeting. Members will remain Susan Elmore,
Suzanne Roy, and Mike Steward. Alternates are Kris and Donna
• 2013 Goals: New officer orientation (scheduled for February 4); completion of board manual;
definition of recorder responsibilities; instituting strong attendance reporting.
Attendance: Monthly sign in sheet for board attendance completed.

Animal Services News: Bob Marotto provided various updates on the basis of Animal Services News
(January 2013) (attached).
Old Business
• Animal Recovery and Sterilization Report and Recommendations unanimously approved with
some minor changes regarding the role of education.
• ASAB unanimously agreed to request a resolution of support from the Commissioners for a
commercial dog breeding bill expected to be introduced to the NC General Assembly this
session.
New Business
• ASAB Candidates: One candidate appeared and discussed her interest with the ASAB.
