Winning the 2017 State Championship

PURPOSE: To recognize the Chapel Hill High School Men's Soccer Team for winning the 2017
State Championship.
BACKGROUND: The Chapel Hill High School Men's Soccer Team won the state 3A title on
November 18, 2017. It is the fourth state title for the team, returning from an unfortunate loss in
last year's championship game. The team is led by Coach Jason Curtis.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this proclamation.
SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated
with this item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the
Chair to sign a proclamation honoring the Chapel Hill High School Men's Soccer Team and
Coach Jason Curtis for winning the 2017 State Championship and the players and coaches for
representing the community with the highest ideals of sportsmanship and integrity.

PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON
CHAPEL HILL HIGH SCHOOL WINNING 2017 STATE TITLE
IN MEN'S SOCCER
WHEREAS, on November 18, 2017, the Chapel Hill High School Men's Soccer
Team won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association's
3A State Championship; and
WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Jason Curtis, the team won its 4th state
championship; and
WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the team
brought honor upon themselves, Chapel Hill High School, the
Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools District and Orange County;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of
Commissioners expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the
Chapel Hill High School Men's Soccer Team and Coach Curtis for
their outstanding achievement, and their inspiration to youth across
North Carolina through their dedication, teamwork, and athletic
prowess.
