Dear Commissioners,
At the Board's October 17, 2017 regular meeting,petitions were brought forth which were reviewed by the
Chair/Vice Chair/Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below:
1) Review and consider a request from by Commissioner Jacobs that staff provide a report to the Board on the
County's coordination with other entities regarding future population projections for the County.
Response: Staff to provide update on discussions and information sharing with other entities.
2) Review and consider a request from Commissioner Jacobs that Planning staff write letter to NCDOT requesting
clarifications on the use of pre-fabricated pedestrian bridges.
Response:Planning to write letter to NCDOT.
3) Review and consider a request from Commissioners McKee and Jacobs that the Board discuss retain outside
counsel to serve the Board of Adjustment.
Response: Staff to investigate what other communities are doing, detail advantages and disadvantages, and
provide a report to the BOCC.
4) Review and consider a request from Commissioner Rich that the Chair write a letter to GoTriangle requesting
that any communication on the proposed Gateway light rail station be shared with Orange and Durham
counties; and requesting responses to past questions as suggested by Commissioner Jacobs and communication
for all stations in Orange County as suggested by Commissioner Marcoplos.
Response: Letter being drafted by staff regarding communication and County involvement.
5) Review and consider a request from Commissioner Rich that staff request that CHCCS provide a written update
to the BOCC on its next steps on capital projects following the high construction bids recently received on
Lincoln and Chapel Hill High.
Response: Staff to send letter to CHCCS regarding LGC rejection and request written update on next steps.
6) Review and consider a request from Commissioner Rich that the Board re-visit the issue on sidewalks and
pedestrian paths, County involvement,maintenance issues, etc. and need for staff or consultant review.
Response: Manager to convene staff work group to develop plan of action.
