HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda - 10-17-2017 - 8-e - Board of Commissioners Meeting Calendar for Year 2018 1 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: October 17, 2017 Action Agenda Item No. 8-e SUBJECT: Board of Commissioners Meeting Calendar for Year 2018 DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: Draft 2018 Calendar Board of County Commissioners Donna Baker, (919) 245-2130 PURPOSE: To consider final approval of the meeting schedule for the Board of County Commissioners for calendar year 2018. BACKGROUND: In accordance with 143.318.12 of the North Carolina General Statutes, a schedule of regular meetings shall be filed with the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. The schedule must show the date, time and place of each meeting. The Board discussed the 2018 calendar at the September 7, 2017 work session and also the October 3, 2017 regular meeting. The attached draft calendar reflects staff's understanding of the actions and discussion from those meetings. All meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Highlights: ➢ Four (4) Quarterly Public Hearings (QPH) removed and will be incorporated into regular meetings ➢ Staff Evaluations scheduled before budget work sessions: ■ Manager— May 3rd starting at 5:30pm (with dinner) ■ Attorney — May 10th starting at 5:30pm (with dinner) ■ Clerk— May 17th starting at 5:30pm (with dinner) ➢ Legislative Breakfast meeting removed as standalone meeting and will be incorporated into a regular meeting. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with approval of the draft 2018 BOCC meeting calendar. SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goals applicable to this item. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the final schedule of meetings for calendar year 2018.
