Hammersley, Orange County Manager Jeff Thompson, Asset Management Services Director From: Angel Barnes, Capital Projects Manager Date: March 6, 2017 Re: Single Occupancy Restrooms, Cameron Street Sidewalk and Historic Courthouse Update The FY2016-17 Capital Investment Plan appropriated funding for the Single Occupancy Restrooms renovations at select facilities, and to install a sidewalk adjacent to the Hillsborough Visitors' Center (Dickson House) at Cameron Street. Single Occupancy Restrooms. The Single Occupancy Restroom project includes renovations Rogers Road Community Center, Animal Services, Cedar Grove Community Center and the Solid Waste Administrative Office Building. The renovations consist of modifying the existing space and/or updating way finding signage for single occupancy restrooms for these facilities. The contract award for the Single Occupancy Restroom construction was approved on February 6, 2017. The contractor submitted the drawings for permits to the City of Chapel Hill immediately following contract award. The demolition permit for Rogers Road Community Center was approved and work started at Rogers Road Community Center on February 14, 2017. The demolition at Rogers Road Community Center is complete and currently pending the Town of Chapel Hill inspection scheduled for the week of March 13, 2017. The Town of Chapel Hill is anticipating the approval of the renovation permits by mid-March. Once approved work will resume at Rogers Road Community Center and then proceed to Solid Waste and Animal Services. All work is scheduled to be completed by mid-June. The signage is being reviewed for the Cedar Grove Community Center. Once approved will be ordered and installed in by mid-May. Cameron Street Sidewalk. The Cameron Street sidewalk contract was awarded on January 27, 2017. The project plans are currently being reviewed with the Town of Hillsborough Tree Board, the Historic District Commission and the Town of Hillsborough Board. The anticipated approval from the Town of Hillsborough is mid-April. The work is scheduled to start during the spring, which is the ideal soil conditions and planting season for this project. All work is scheduled to be completed by mid-June. Historic Court House. The Historic Court House gutter replacement project is now complete. The scaffolding will be removed during the week of March 13, 2017. The project duration was extended in order to avoid interruptions to the Superior Court sessions that were taking place throughout the project.
