Dear Comrades,
At the Board's February 7, 2017 regular meeting,petitions were brought forth which were reviewed by
the Chair/Vice Chair/Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below:
1) Review and consider a request by Commissioner McKee, echoed by Commissioners Jacobs and
Dorosin, that although the BRIP Update will not be available, request that GoTriangle still plan to send
representatives to 2/16/17 work session to address questions and share reasons for the delay.
Response: GoTriangle representatives to be at February 16th meeting to address delay and selection of
light rail versus BRT.
2) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Marcoplos that the Board follow-up quickly on his
previous petition to adopt a resolution regarding HB2 impacts and send it to the Governor and NC
General Assembly and newspapers.
Response: Chair Dorosin indicated during the meeting a plan to send a letter to the Governor and
General Assembly and newspapers noting details of the impact of HB2; staff to develop draft letter for
Chair review.
3) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Jacobs that the Board request that staff provide a report
to the Board on where senior staff currently reside.
Response: Staff(Brenda Bartholomew) to provide information.
4) Review and consider a request by by Commissioner Jacobs that the Board review how it handles agenda
business and consider addressing public items before internal items.
Response: To be discussed at 2/16/17 work session.
5) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Jacobs that the Board ask the County Attorney to
investigate whether the Board can consider and adopt a bicycle helmet ordinance for bikers on public
roads.
Response: County Attorney to provide follow-up information as part of County Attorney's Report.
6) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Price that staff review bus service to the Fairview
community and to the Gateway Center/West Campus.
Response: Staff to review.

7) Review and consider a request Commissioner Price that the Board consider sending a letter of support
to the Hillsborough Police Department regarding foreign nationals who can drive being able to receive
drivers licenses.
Response: Chair to draft letter expressing support for working collaboratively with residents,
encouraging discussion, and opposition to any targeting.
