PURPOSE: To consider making appointments to the Hillsborough Strategic Growth Steering
Committee.
BACKGROUND: Members were appointed to this board earlier this year. The representative
from the Orange County Planning Board was Ted Triebel. Mr, Triebel's term on the Orange
County Planning Board expired 3/31/2006, The Board is now being asked to consider a new
appointment to a Steering Committee to continue working with this board to finish the process.
The Orange County Planning Board is recommending that Crauford Goodwin serve as the
Orange County Planning Board representative on this board.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None,
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making one new appointment to the Hillsborough Strategic
Growth Steering Committee.

At the recent Planning Board meeting, the Planning Board decided that it would like to have Jeff Schmitt "appointed" as
the Planning Baard rep to the Board of Adjustment. Also, Craufurd Goodwin and Renee Price-Saunders would like to
be appointed as the PB representative to the Hillsborough-OC Strategic Growth Committee (following the meeting,
however, Renee told Craig that she would not like to be on the committee, and that Craufurd could have the position.
We have not received a formal note from her requesting this, however, which we requested) Do these positions need to
be formally appointed by the BOCC (at a meeting), or are they informal appointments?
