Members absent: Commissioner Sim L. Efland.

officials and those covered in the "Sob Classification end Compensation Plen"
adopted October 17, 1955, mare considered.
The annual salary of the Tex Accountant and Tax Supervisor was made
$~., L.00.00 in place of }~., 2$O.OOeffective July 1d 1955; the annual salary of
the Tax Collector eras made $37$0.00 in place of p3, 00.00, effective July
1, 19$5r and the annual salary of the Sunt. of Public 4'{elf¢re mes made
~~`-3,720.00 in place of $3,600.00, effective Julg 1, ].955.
2. The suggestion that the Hoe rd consider the advisability of establishing
the office of "County fi9anager and Purchasing .4 gent", including i.n that of Tice
the present dut ios of the County Accountant and Taz Supervisor, sub feet to the
provisions of the General Statutes of North Carol Snc, Chaptor 150, Section
20-25, was carefully examined. The Board informally snd unanimously
agreed that the total volume of duties in Orange County which may be
assigned under the nrovis ions of the General Statutes 150: 20-25 do not
now w¢rr¢nt estebl ish ing the office of "County fi9enager end Purchasing
Agent".
