Development PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No ATTACHMENT(S): Bid Results; Work Specifications INFORMATION CONTACT: Tara L. Fikes, 245-2490 PURPOSE: To award two housing rehabilitation contracts far the County's CDBG Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation Program. BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation Program for the general repair portion of the work specifications. Bids were also solicited from lead based paint abatement contractors for items containing lead based paint as required by federal regulation. The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues §143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids, Additionally, present program procedures provide that. housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Additionally, all contractors participating in the County's Rehabilitation Program are required to utilize current deconstnaction and material recycling methods during the repair process. Sealed bids were solicited from participating contractors on January 27 and January 30, 2006, However, because no bids were submitted, bids were solicited for a second time on February 21 and February 23, 2006 with a bid opening on February 28, 2006 and March 2, 2006 respectively with two bids received for the general repair portion and the lead based paint portion of the work specifications far both dwelling units, Bid results are attached.
