HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19550919L I ~_1 The Board of Commisaionere for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met adJourned regular session at the County Courthouse in Hillsboro, the regular ce of meeting at 10 o'clock, A.M„ on September 14, 1955. Prea ant: Chairman R. J. M. Aobba, and Commisa ionera Edwin S. Lanier, tA, Ray and Henry S, 'Aalker. Absent: Commis sionar Sim L. Efland. The Chairman announced that this was the date and hour Sized b9 the Board the public hearl ng upon the order entitled: "ORDER AIITAOAIZZ NG ~3y., 000 SCAOOL BUILDING BONDS" and that the Hoard ld immediately hear any and all citizens and tazpay era who might desire to test against the Ssauance of said bonds. No citizen or taxpayer of the County nppeered, either in person or by orney, to protest against the issuance of any of said bonds, and the Clerk Danced that no protest Sn writing, signed by any citizen or taxpayer, had n presented. Thereupon, upon motl on of Commissioner Aenry S. Yfalker, seconded b9 missionar D, M1t. Rey and carried, the order introduced and passed on et reading on September 6, 1455 entitled: "ORDER AOTAORIZING a~`34.000 OOL BUILDING BONDS", was read a second time and placed upon Sts final saga. The Vote upon the final passage of said order was: Ayes: Commissioners R. J. M. Hobbs, Edwin S. Lanier, D. M. Ray Renry S, Walker. No as: None The Chairman then announced that the order entitled: "ORDE7i ADTAORIZING .,000 SCHOOL BUILDING BONDS" had passed. The Clerk was thereupon directed to publish said order 1n The Newe of nge County, once Sn each of two successive weeks, and to publish at the t of said order the appended note as required by The County Finance Act, amended. Upon motion of Convaisa loner Lanier, seconded by Con®issloner Aey, and nanimous ly passed, Mr. Don idatheson, one of the twenty-eight persona fficially named by this Board on September b, 1955, to membership on the range County Agricultural and Industrial Development Commission, ba requested y this Hoard to call the members of the Commission Snto ass slop for the purpose f organSzln¢ and getting underway with its work, Sn accordance with the rovi si ons of the May 2, 1455. Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Comml scion er Lnnler, unanimously passed, the Accountant was authoriz ad to c¢sh 1n the government s which have begun due and sell other bo nda that are about to come due. Upon motion of Commisa loner Rey, seconded b9 Commissioner Walker, and imousl9 Passed, S. M.
