We have the issue of our American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) ethics rules which prevent us from any actions that might be (or produce) a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest. The OUTBoard makes recommendations on Planning staff proposals to the BOCC, and several of the members interact with our staff in their professions (a good example is Brantley Wells, who works for Summit Engineering). I am determined to be successful despite growing up with two parents who suffer from drug addictions. I have overcome spending my middle school years living in a crack house with my little brother John. After raising my brother in that environment for nearly two years, my house was raided by SWAT and we were placed in a Child Protective Services (CPS)group home. The group home was toxic, we were abused, and no one expected us to succeed. However, I learned that you need to be aware of the opportunities that exist through creative application of rules and regulations.
