Task Force Resolution Jerry M. Passmore, Director, 245-2009
Jack Chestnut, Chair
PURPOSE: To consider a resolution commending the Master Aging Plan Task Force on the
completion the five year plan update that was presented to the Board of County Commissioners
on May 3, 2007 and adopted on May 15, 2007.
BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners approved the updating of the Master
Aging Plan (MAP) for the period 2007-2011. The MAP Task Force charge, structure,
membership and time frame were approved by the Board of County Commissioners on October
18, 2005. The Task Force was comprised of a Steering Committee and three functional
subcommittees: Well/Fit Older Adult, Disabled/Moderately Impaired Older Adult, and Severely
Impaired/Institutionalized Older Adult, as well as four identified broad issues subgroups
(Information/Access, Housing Transportation, and Transitional Care).
Pat Sprigg and Florence Soltys, co-chairs of the MAP Steering, guided the process from its
kick-off on December 1, 2005 through the final MAP meeting on January 31, 2007. Without the
dedication and expertise of over 110 persons including Task Force members, resource
consultants, and staff, the development of this plan would not have been possible.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with approval of this Resolution
of Commendation.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the resolution
commending the Master Aging Plan Task Force members for their time, energy and expertise in
preparing a plan that will impact all Orange County older residents now and in the future;
authorize the Chair to sign the resolution; and approve the sunsetting of the MAP Task Force
based on completion of its charge and BOCC adoption of the MAP update.
