PURPOSE: To recognize the Emergency Management Services and Land
Records Departments for receipt of the 1992-93 Outstanding County
Program Award.
BACKGROUND: The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners
recently presented a 1992-93 Outstanding County Program Award to Orange
County for the implementation of the Integrated E911/CAD/GIS System in
Emergency Services. Roscoe Reeve, Land Records Manager & GIS Director,
and Nick Waters, Director of Emergency Management Services, spearheaded
the County effort in coordinating the development and implementation of
this system, which provides telecommunicators with automated
dispatching, Enhanced 911, and access to digitized road maps and crime
information simultaneously at each workstation. This program was one
of 19 to receive an NCACC award, out of more than 60 entries in the
competition.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board acknowledge the
achievement of the two departments and present the award to
departmental representatives.
