PURPOSE: To receive comments from the public concernin g the FY1993
Community Development Block Grant Program Application.
BACKGROUND: The N.C. Department of Commerce has announced the
availability of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
funds for Co mmunit y Revitalization projects. In order to
apply for funding, the State requires applicants to conduct
a public hearing to obtain citizen comments prior to Ik
developing an application for funding. Comments received
during this public hearing will assist the Housing and
Community Development Department in designing a sound CDBG
application.
CDBG activities must be carried out in a concentrated
neighborhood with multiple
needs
which
also include de
th e
following: deteriorated housing, water/sewer deficiencies,
unpaved streets or drainage problems. The higher the
magnitude of need identified in a particular neighborhood,
the higher the application will rank in the state's
selection process which is highly competitive. In addition,
scattered site housing rehabilitation ro ects will also be
considered.
The maximum amount of funding available is $600,000.
