Other Comments:
I have lived, worked and studied in Chapel Hill for over seven years and am excited to be
at a point in my life where I have both the time and energy to be involved in my
community. The work of both the commission for women and the human relations
commission are especially important to making Orange County a good place for
everyone to live. For the past two months I have been working with the commission for
women on planning the Orange County Women's Agenda Assembly and I have enjoyed
the experience. Cutler Andrews, a current commission member and friend, heard about
my work on the agenda assembly and suggested that I join the commission for women.
It is extremely important important for young people like me to be involved at the local
level, where a citizen can have the greatest impact. My work and volunteer experiences,
my commitment to social justice and equality and my interest in local government and
civic engagement would significantly benefit the work of either of the commissions for
which I am applying. I appreciate the opportuntity to volunteer for Orange County and
look forward to hearing from someone soon..

Other Comments:
I have been in.service in one way or another to the community and the country for my
entire working life. I believe it is the responsibility of citizens to participate the the process
of government to that extent that they can. As asemi-retired inividual with several
careers behind me I believe I can contribute to the community through active
participation in the governing process. I am especially interested in areas that offer the
opportunity to guide youth towards productive lives or to settle disputes in a civil manner
through thorough fact finding and arbitration..
