The Hoard of Commissioners of Orange County met in tho Commissioners'
Room of the Courthouse at 7:90 o'clock P. M, on September 1L, in a spacial
meeting.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss with the FJelfare Department
and ":Ar. R. Eugene Brown the appropriation for the we ifere Assistance programs
during the current fiscal year. At the nre sent rate of spending there will
not be sufficient funds to maintain their programs the entire year.
The V'le lfare Depertme nt reauaeted that the Commissioners make evallable
additional funds to enable them to maintain these programs ¢s originally
recue eted.
Upon motion, duly made and seconded and all the Commissioners voting
Age, the Hoard agreed to make eveilable to the °lelfare Department for these
programs the sssm received in rentals for the lielfare Department Offices in
the Vew Courthouse for the reminder of this fiscal ye ¢r.
At tho conclusion of this discussion, the Board ¢nd l'fel tare Department
expressed their thanks to -{r. Brown Tor his interest in this matter and the
help he had been able to give them in solving this financial problem.
IInon motion of Commissioner Hobbs, seconded by Commissioner Efland, Idr.
Hoy A. t'larren wes appolnted Eloctr ical Inspector for the Southern part of the
County. Ayes 3; Noes 0.
IIpon motion of Commissioner Efland, seconded by Commissioner Hobbs, and
all members voting in the effirma tive, Don ..fa theson er¢s granted a two-xeek
leave of ebse nce without nay to re-visit the Virgin Islands and inspect the
progress made in the agricultural work he supervised last year. This leeve
is to commence when he concludes his Rural Progress Vlork in the fall.
There being no further businoss the meeting was adfourned.
