PURPOSE: To adopt a resolution in memoriam for Gordon Baylor Cleveland,
former Orange County Commissioner.
BACKGROUND: The attached resolution will honor Gordon Baylor Cleveland
for his many years of public service in behalf of the citizens of
Orange County.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the resolution.

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION IN MEMORIAM
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners has learned
with deep regret of the death of Mr. Gordon Baylor Cleveland,
a former member of the Orange County Board of Commissioners;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon Baylor Cleveland did give untiring public
service to his County, State, and Nation during his lifetime
as a World War II Army Air Corps pilot; as a Board of
Education member (1959-1962) ; as a County Commissioner (1962-
1966) ; and as a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
faculty member (1952-1982) ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Board
of Commissioners recognizes the significant contributions of
Gordon Baylor Cleveland to his community and on behalf of all
the citizens of Orange County, commemorates his public
service.
FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the family of Gordon Baylor Cleveland with the
expressed sympathy of the Orange County Board of
Commissioners.

RESOLUTION IN MEMORIAM
WHEREAS, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners has learned
with deep regret of the death of Mr. Gordon Baylor Cleveland, a former member of the
Orange County Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon Baylor Cleveland, did give untiring public service to his
County, State and Nation during his lifetime;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that his name be entered on the rolls of
those who have gone from our midst in this Association year so that he may be
remembered at the next Annual Conference thereof; and
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
family of Gordon Baylor Cleveland with the expressed sympathy of the members of this
Association.
Adopted this 21st Day of November, 1994, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
