Dear Commissioners,
At the Board's October 4, 2016 regular meeting,petitions were brought forth which were reviewed by
the Chair/Vice Chair/Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below:
1) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Jacobs that the Manager ensures that the Board
receives adequate background documents for review prior to discussion at a Board meetings.
Response: DONE- Manager will ensure future discussion items will contain adequate background
documents.
2) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Jacobs that the County ensure that advisory
boards meet in rooms large enough to hold the public in attendance and that all speakers can be
heard.
Response: County Manager's office will work with Support Staff to Boards and Commissions to
ensure adequate meeting room space and audio.
3) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Dorosin that the County formally adopt local
purchasing policy.
Response: Staff will research and bring back information/report to the Board.
4) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Price that Orange County review data available
through Envision Carolina as a way to address issues and find solutions.
Response: County Manager will review and bring back information to the Board.
5) Review and consider a request by Chair McKee that staff present an item for Board discussion on
possible action to eliminate eminent domain as a possibility related to the establishment of the
Mountain to Sea Trail.
Response: County Attorney and staff to provide follow-up information to the Board for further
consideration.
6) Review and consider a request by Chair McKee that staff bring back the ABC Board Travel
Policy for discussion based on the ABC Board's action to adopt a different travel policy from the
one approved by the BOCC.
Response: Item is scheduled for the October 18, 2016 BOCC meeting.
