PURPOSE: . To receive public comments regarding Cable TV services in
the County.
BACKGROUND: The Cable TV Franchises with Time. Warner Cable
(Cablevision) and Cablevision Industries (CVI) will
terminate on February 24, 1996. The 1992 Cable Act
requires the franchising authority (Orange County) to
conduct public proceedings to identify future cable-
related community needs and interests and review past
performance of cable operators. Comments from the
public will assist in developing a Cable TV Franchise
Renewal Proposal for both cable companies.
RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends that all public comments
be referred to the Cable TV Citizen Advisory
Committee for development of Cable TV Franchise
Renewal Proposal.
