PURPOSE: To consider making appointments to the Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool.
BACKGROUND: The following information is for Board consideration:
• Appointment to a first full term (position #3) "Town of Chapel Hill" expiring 03/31/2019.
• Appointment to a partial term (position #4) "Town of Chapel Hill expiring 03/31/2017.
• Request to move Daniel Ryan to (position #6) "Town of Hillsborough". Three
applications have been recently submitted by residents of the Town of Chapel Hill.
Moving Daniel Ryan would allow for Chapel Hill residents to fill the two positions
designated for "Town of Chapel Hill". (NOTE: There have been no applications
submitted from the Town of Hillsborough).

appointments to fill vacant positions on the Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool.

I have had pets all my life but have also volunteered in animal care for over 10 years in Kuwait,
Dubai, and Abu Dhabi while working abroad as an International HR Director. Upon returning
home to Orange County I started my own nonprofit to continue the work I had started overseas. I
am familiar with local and state ordinances regarding animal laws and am very well versed at
conducting interviews, investigations, and policy writing.

I have experience dealing with human health, wellness and safety due to the fact that I am a
registered nurse. I have animal knowledge due to my extensive experience with both dog rescue
and horse rescue. I have fostered over 30 dogs both in litters and singles in 4 years. I think it is
worth noting that I have only adopted 2 of these, with the rest being successfully placed by the
individual rescues. I also have 2 horses of my own and work with Safe Haven to foster horses
that need time to heal from either wounds, neglect, or because owners for whatever reason
have realized that they can no longer care for them properly. I am a real estate agent/broker
,and although my license has been inactive for 2 years due to other obligations I realize that
property values can be negatively affected if zoning regulations and ordinances are not in place/
enforced.
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
I feel that with my diverse background I can objectively view all aspects and positions of cases
that are brought before the board. I can listen, analyze and evaluate each case for human
safety, animal safety and rights of property owners. I am equally passionate about all of the
above and I realize each case has its own unique circumstances . I will judge each case based
on its individual merits.
