Sorry for the delay. Karen -----Original Message----- From: Robert Peterson [mailto:peterson@med.unc.edu] Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 11:42 AM To: Alice Gordon; Karen Lincoln; Sam Lasris Subject: Tonight's Meeting and Future Meetings Importance: High Hi all, I am writing to tell you that, first, I won't be able to attend tonights meeting. And, that second, this is because of a family crisis that has lead me to withdraw from all my extra-familial duties - including now the OUTBoard. This is an extremely personal matter, but it relates to one of our children and there is just n o way I can make any other decision. I was planning on telling everyone tonight face to face, but things are just too hectic for me to get away. I know there are other candid ates from Chapel Hill, so I know you won't have a hard time replacing me. But, I want you to know that I was really enjoying my time on the Board and feel like it could have a major impact with the right leadership, which is also not me at this time. Thank you all for everything, Robert Commissioner Alice M. Gordon 282 Edgewood Dr. Chapel Hill, N.C. 27517 Dear Commissioner Gordon, t is with great sadness that I submit my resignation as Chair of the `Orange County Unified Transportation Board effective immediately, 14 months after my election to that position. Increased personal obligations make it impossible for me fulfill my duties in a way that is responsible for Orange County. I had hoped to continue serving on the board will as the Chapel Hill representative until the BOCC could find a replacement, however, at this time I believe that will not be possible. Thank you for all your help and input and I apologize for leaving this position so abruptly. Sincerely, Robert E. Peterson, Ph.D. 8 Applicant Interest Listing by Board Name and by Applicant Name Contact Person: Karen Lincoln Orange Unified Transportation Board Contact Phone: 245-2575 Mr. Leo Al11SOn Day Phone: 919-563-9110 Sex: Male 4125 Marvin Lane Evening Phone: 919-563-9110 Race: African American Efland NC 27243 FAX: 919-563-9110 Township: Cheeks E-mail: lele2@mebtel.net Date Applied: 12/04/2003 Skills: Community Service Volunteer Also Serves On: Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Also Serves On: Sportsplex Community Advisory Committee Skills: Orange County Planning Board/Chair/ Also Serves On: Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Also Serves On: Sportsplex Community Advisory Committee Ms. Karen Barrows Day Phone: 919-732-4491 Sex: Female 3816 Twin River Farm Rd Evening Phone: 919-732-4491 Race: Caucasian Hurdle Mills NC 27541 FAX: Township: Little River E-mail: Date Applied: 08/11/2006 Skills: Little River Township Also Serves On: NC Highway 57 Speedway Area Small Area Plan Tasl<f Skills: Planning Board Experience Dr. Dawn. While I support the decision to use Eubanks Road for the waste transfer station, I also believe that Orange County, Chapel Hill, and Canboro owe a great deal to the Road community for having the landfill operations in their neighborhood for so long. During my time on the OWASA board, I made multiple enquiries into how sewer service could be provided to thi neighborhood and continue to watch for possibilities. I also pbelieve that my training in education can benefit this task force, since school based programs are another obvious area in which enhancements are needed.
