BACKGROUND: The Clerk's office has received a recommendation from the Carrboro Board
of Adjustment for John Gant. If appointed Mr. Gant will be serving a full term ending 2/28/2010.

The Carrboro Board of .Aldermen at its meeting on October 16, 2007 adopted the attached
resolution requesting an appointment to the Carrboro Board of Adjustrnent. The Board is requesting
that Mr. John. Gant be appointed to a Transition Area seat on the Board of Adjustment. His term
will expire in February 2010.

Alderman Jowl Hall Broun.
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AN APPOINTNDNT TO A
TRANSITION AREA SEAT ON THE CARRBORO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
Resolution No. 36/2007-2008
W[~REAS, as a result of a vacancy, it is necessary to appoint a person to a seat reserved on the
Carrt,orr L~eard .~f A_*djustn;ent for. pexsous rPCidif_g within the, town's Transition .Area; and
WHEREAS, by state statute and town ordinance, the Orange County Board of Commissioners
initially has the authority and responsibility to appoint Transition Area members to the town's Board
of Adjustment.
NOW, TI~REFORE, THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF TF~ TOWN OF CARRBORO
RESOLVES:
Section 1. The Orange County Board of Commissioners is respectfully requested to appoint the
following individual to a Transition Area seat on the Cazrboro Board of Adjustment, whose term
will expire in February 2010:

Section 2. If the Orange County Board of Commissioners fails to appoint persons willing to serve
in the capacity described above within 90 days after receiving this resolution, then the Carrboro
Board of Aldermen may make this appointment.
Section 3. The Town Clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to the Orange County Manager.
Section 4. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote received the following vote and was
duly adopted this 16th day of October 2007:

Volunteer Experience: I am currently a School Reading Partner at McDougle
Elementary. I've spent several years teaching youth Sunday School classes (ages 4-12)
and Achievment Days (an enrichment program for girls age 8-12). My former
apartment manager gave me the un-official title of Social Organizer for Berkeshire
Manor Apts. Currently, I am communicating with Chrystal Fisher of the Orange
