The Planning Board recommends: A. The preliminary plan of Walnut Cove Subdivision be approved. ✓B. That the Board of Commissioners enact a resolution drafted by Triangle J Council of Governments, which states the County will participate in the Areawide Housing Opportunity Plan. C. That the Board of Commissioners enter into an agreement with Triangle J concerning implementation by the County of the 208 Water Quality Plan. nv . .:D. V The Board of Commissioners adopt the Land Use Goal Statement proposed by the Planning Board. 12. Announcements: A. 'The Board of Commissioners. will meet in the Grand Jury Room of the COUNCIL RESOLUTION T _ It is the recommendation of the Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council that the orange County Commissioners endorse and encourage the acquisition by gift of approximately 50 acres of state-owned land at the Red Hill Site from the State of North Carolina. Although the long range recreation and park plan for Orange County is incomplete, it is the concensus of the Advisory Council that encouragement of this parcel as a gift by the State would enhance the ultimate plan, and create an opportunity to take advantage of at this time, Representatives of the Advisory Council, after visiting the site and meeting with a citizens' group of the area, were impressed by the willingness of these citizens to contribute their own resources, subject to County approval, for the development of this area for all county residents, Resolution Proposal: Mss Mary Howes, Park Planning Subcommittee Motion to Accept: Mr. Ron Hyatt, Member Second: Mr. Don Roberts, Member. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council has recommended the acquisition by gift of approximately fifty (50) acres of land at the Red Hill Site, Orange County, North Carolina, and VIHEREAS, the Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council has determined that the acquisition of this property would enhance the long range recreation and park plan for Orange County, and WHEREAS, the Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council has determined that development of this site as a County recreation and park area is feasible and has the support of citizens in the area; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Orange County Board of Commissioners that the Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council be and it is hereby empowered to pursue with the State of North Carolina the acquisition by gift in the name of Orange County approximately fifty (50) acres of land at the Red Hill Site, located in Orange County, North Carolina. Upon motion of Commissioner_ Norman ldalker , seconded by Commissioner Norman Gustaveson the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Commissioners Walker, Gustaveson, Whitted and Willhoit Noes. North Carolina Memorial 'iospital ani the UNC School of Dentistry will provide addi- tional financial support by provision of dentists, dental residents, dental students, and dental hygienist. The program will consist of both a primary care ser- vice and a preventative service. Primary care will be provided in a five chair dental clinic in the Health Department in Carrboro and a four chair clinic in the Orange County Social Services Building Health Department office in Hillsborough. Memorial and the Dental School will staff these clinics with attending dentists, dental residents and provide professional guid- ance and quality/quantity assurance. Medically co-npromised patients will be served at the companion clinic at Memorial. Preventative care will be given all clinic patients. Tho maior thrust of this effort, however, will be in the public schools. All children grades K - 2 will be exposea to a major educational effort with demonstrations, brush- ing and flossing techniques taught, nutrition counseling I and guidance, fluoridation programs, screenin; for dental problems with referral to appropriate other care source Actual Budgeted Estimated PROPOSED) Approved; or to our clinics and follow-up into the homes by nurses.
