RE: RECOMMENDED APPOINTEES TO THE COMMISSION FOR WOMEN
The Orange County Commmission for Women (CFW) held a meeting on Thtusday,
October 11, 2007, and one of the actions taken by the CFW was to make recommendations for
appointment to the CFW.. Thus, the CFW requested that applications of the following residents
be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration: Rae Buckley, April
Ray, and Shannon Jackson.
The Commission for Women is committed to increasing the diversity of Commission
members and committed to preserving a geographical balance of representation whenever
possible. In addition, all of the applicants have voiced an active interest in advocating for
women, improving the quality of life for women in Orange Colulty and a willingness axed ability
to attend the Commission's meetings and participate in its projects.
Please let me lazow if additional information is required or if clarification is needed in

Remarks: I would indeed be interested in the board for the new Shelter design. I am a
mechanical engineer & project manager for a very small medical device company, so I
understand quite well both the technical and budgetary issues that such a project will
face. I understand that there are no openings for the Animal Services board, but that
would be my first preference. I'm also very interested u1 women-in-the-sciences issues,
so I would be interested in the Commission on Women board. I'tn passionate about
promoting equal rights races, religions, sexual orientations, etc, so I'd also like to serve
