MINUTES
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
APRIL 22, 1980
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session
on Tuesday, April 22, 1980, at 3:00 p.m., in the Carrboro Town Hall ,
Carrboro, North Carolina.
Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman,
and Commissioners Anne Barnes and Norman Gustaveson.
Commissioners absent: Commissioner Don Willhoit and Commissioner
Norman Walker.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a flood hazard insurance
plan for Orange County.
Ms. Carol Doyle, representative of the Federal Emergency Management Agency,
and Mr. Ken Olds, Army Corps of Engineers-Wilmington District, discussed
a recently completed flood hazard study.
The Board requested the Planning Director publish an advertisement
indicating the maps and flood plan study would be available to the
public during certain hours at the Orange County Planning Department;
that the government is allowed a 90-day period in which to appeal the

maps, but that individuals may still appeal particular tracts at the
end of the 90-day period.
The Board requested members of the Water Resources Planning and
Protection Task Force and the Planning Board be briefed on the study
and maps.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned.
