SPRING 2015 GRANT AGREEMENT \

THIS AGREEMENT, entered into this 18th day of June, 2015, by and between Orange County
("County"), by and through the Orange County Arts Commission ("Arts Commission") and One
Song Productions ("Grant Recipient").
WHEREAS, the Arts Commission is a countywide arts agency that ensures the growth of
local arts experiences by providing funding and support for diverse high quality programs and
projects.
WHEREAS, the Arts Commission administers the Spring and Fall Arts Grants Program
to provide economic opportunities to Orange County artists and non-profit organizations
coordinating arts projects benefiting the citizens of Orange County.
WHEREAS, the Spring Arts Grants Program is supported by Arts Commission with
funds from the Grassroots Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency of the
Department of Cultural Resources and the National Endowment for the Arts.
WHEREAS, the Grant Recipient was selected by the Arts Commission to receive the
Spring Arts Grant through the procedures duly adopted by the Arts Commission; and
WHEREAS, both parties wish to promote and maintain the integrity and clarity of the
Grant Recipient's ideas and statements and delineate the Grant Recipient's obligations to the
County;
NOW, THEREFORE, the County and the Grant Recipient, for the consideration and
under the conditions hereinafter set forth, agree as follows:
1. Approved Grant Project. Grant funds are provided under this Agreement for the project
("Project") described in the Grant Recipient's Grant Application, attached hereto and
incorporated herein as Exhibit A.
2. Grant Award. Grant funds in an amount not to exceed one thousand five hundred dollars
($1,500) have been awarded by the Arts Commission to the Grant Recipient for the
approved Project. These funds must be matched at least dollar-for-dollar with cash from
the Grant Recipient's funds not derived from either Orange County appropriations or the
North Carolina Arts Council.
3. Contingency. This grant is contingent on North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots
Program funding to the Arts Commission. Final decisions on Grassroots Program funds
to the North Carolina Arts Council are subject to approval by the North Carolina General
Assembly.
4. Responsibilities of the Grant Recipient

A. Implementation. The Project implementation shall take place between July 1,
2015 and June 30, 2016, The Project shall be implemented in the manner
described in Exhibit A. Time is of the essence in the implementation of the
Proj ect.
B. Modifications to project. Grant Recipient shall present major changes to the
original proposal, including but not limited to changes in design, implementation
schedule and increase in Project budget by more than 10%, in writing to the Arts
Commission for approval. Arts Commission shall approve or disapprove Grant
Recipient's request for modifications within seven (7) days of receipt thereof.
Consent to project modifications shall not be unreasonably withheld. Arts
Commission's decisions shall be in writing. In the event the Arts Commission
fails to approve or disapprove the requested modifications within the time stated
herein, the modifications shall be deemed approved.
C. Non—assignment. The grant cannot be assigned or transferred to a different project
or artist without prior written approval of the Arts Commission.
D. Records. Grant Recipient must maintain records and other evidence pertaining
to costs incurred and revenues acquired during the Project implementation. Grant
Recipient shall maintain financial records pertaining to the Project for three (3)
years from the date of this Agreement, in case of audit.
E. Use of Funds. Grant Recipient shall not use the grant funds to repay outstanding
taxes or other debts of any nature. The grants shall be utilized solely for the
purpose of implementing the Project and Project related expenses.
F. Final Report. Grant Recipient shall submit to the Arts Commission a Final Report
on July 8, 2016 . The Final Report shall be in the format required by the
North Carolina Arts Council. Failure to submit the Final Report or late
submission of the Final Report, for any reason, shall be grounds for denial and/or
cancellation of grant funds for the Project and future grant proposals.
5. Responsibilities of the Arts Commission
A. Patent. The Arts Commission shall release the grant funds in the amount of
$1,500 to the Grant Recipient.
6. Publicity
A. Acknowled eg ment. Credit must be given to the Orange County Arts
Commission using the Arts Commission logo and if State funds are received
to the North Carolina Grassroots Program in brochures, news releases,
programs, and all other printed and online publications. Copies of such printed
materials must accompany the evaluation report. When no printed information is
used, verbal credit shall be given. In addition, all print and promotional material
must include the following credit line(check all that apply):

i. County Funds Only. "This program is supported by the Orange
County Arts Commission. "
ii. x North Carolina Arts Council Funding. "This program is supported by the
Orange County Arts Commission with fiends from the Grassroots Program of
the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency. "
B. The Grant Recipient must enter all events, exhibits and performances open to the
public and related to this grant award on the ExploreChapelHillARTS.com
website and display ExploreChapelHillARTS.com publicity materials
(postcards, brochures, etc.) prominently and consistently at their venue or
performance space. In addition, the Grant Recipient must add a link to the
ExploreChapelHiltARTS.com (ExploreChapelHillARTS.com logo preferred)
to their main webpage. The Grant Recipient shall contact the Orange County Arts
Commission for replacement ExploreChapelHillARTS.com publicity materials.
7. Indemnity. The Grant Recipient agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the County, the
Alts Commission and the North Carolina Arts Council and their officers and employees
from any and all claims or actual injury, damage or loss to a person, or real or personal
property that results from or is in any way connected to the use of the grant funds.
8. Independent Contractor. The Grant Recipient is an independent contractor and not an
employee, agent or other representative of the County and/or the Arts Commission.
Nothing contained in this Agreement shall be construed to create the relationship of
principal and agent, or employer and employee, between Grant Recipient and Arts
Commission or Orange County Government. Grant Recipient understands and agrees
that he/she is not authorized to incur any expenses or any liability whatsoever on behalf
of the County or the Arts Commission and has no authority, expressed or implied, to
obligate or make representations on behalf of the County or the Arts Commission. In
addition, Grant Recipient agrees to maintain his or her own worker's compensation
insurance for himself/herself and his or her employees for the duration of the ail work's
installation.
9. Termination
A. In the event of any of the circumstances set forth below (hereinafter referred to as
"default"),the Arts Commission may immediately terminate this Agreement:
(i) Any fraudulent representation in any verification required to obtain
payment under this Agreement or other dishonesty on a material matter
relating to the performance of services under this Agreement.
(ii) Nonperformance, incomplete service or performance, or failure to
satisfactorily perform any part of the Project or to comply with any
provision of this Agreement, as determined by the Arts Commission in its
sole discretion.

(iii) Failure to adhere to the terms of applicable county, state or federal laws,
regulations, or stated public policy.
B. In the event of default by the Grant Recipient, the Arts Commission has the
discretion to elect to terminate this Agreement, in whole or in part and/or require
the Grant Recipient to repay the grant funds within seven (7) from written notice
of default or allow the grant recipient the opportunity to cure the default. This
clause shall not be interpreted to limit the County's or the Arts Commission's
remedies in law or in equity.
10. Miscellaneous.
A. Entire Agreement. This Agreement and the attachments contain the final and
entire understanding of the parties with respect to the subject matter of this
Agreement. All modifications and amendments to this Agreement shall be in
writing. This Agreement shall be binding upon the parties, their heirs, successors
and assigns.
B. Governing Law. This Agreement shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws
of the State of North Carolina and the Orange County.
C. Entire Agreement and Signatures. The parties have read this Agreement and agree
to be bound by all of its terms, and further agree that it constitutes the complete
and exclusive statement of the Agreement between the parties unless and until
modified in writing and signed by the parties. This Agreement together with any
amendments or modifications may be executed electronically. All electronic
signatures affixed hereto evidence the intent of the Parties to comply with Article
11A and Article 40 of North Carolina General Statute Chapter 66.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Orange County and the Grant Recipient have signed this Grant
Agreement, effective on the last date this Agreement is signed by both parties as indicated by the
dates set forth under signatures below.

Summary Statement for Proposed Uses of Arts Program Grant One Song Productions would use the
funds given by this grant to support our fall and winter productions for the 2015-16 season. Funds would
go to space rental (to offset rising costs), scripts, rights, publicity/community outreach, costumes, and
props. These funds would help One Song achieve its creative vision by allowing for higher-valued productions,
and allow us to share these shows with the community by allowing for more extensive publicitiy.

Organizational Profile
One Song Productions is a local, youth-run theatre organization founded in 2002 by Katie
Yow and Daniel Elam, two Chapel Hill High School students, as a supplement to school
dramatic programs. One Song's goals are to engage youth in every step of the creative process
and offer new opportunities for learning and growth in the performing arts. One Song is run by a
board of six to eight directors, all of whom attend high schools in the Durham-Chapel Hill area.
Their aim is to provide students in the area with a fun, creative, and educational experience
working on extracurricular productions. Additionally, all One Song events are produced,
directed, and staged entirely by students from area high schools and colleges.
One Song produces five different shows in a year's season, all of which are directed and
cast by high school students from the Triangle area of North Carolina. One Song has continued
to expand throughout its 11 year history as a result of the community's constant support and
generosity, as the shows One Song produces are funded solely by donations and grant
applications submitted by students.
Current Programs and Services
Each year, One Song Productions aims to produce a five-show season. One Song has
three full-length productions directed by high school students, a summer show directed by a high
school or college student, and a 48-hour theatre event, The February 48. The three main shows,
all of which are selected and directed by the Board of Directors, provide material that students
may not get a chance to work with in their school environments. These shows often push the
envelope, giving participating students the chance to take on more challenging characters and
content that they might not be exposed to in schools, as well as the opportunity to explore
complex moral and ethical angles to modern issues. One Song also provides technical students
with opportunities to be creative and branch out without the confines of a school tech
department. All design and construction is headed by students, giving them the chance to apply
technical knowledge they may have learned in school and take on full leadership positions
usually regulated by school staff members. One Song's annual summer show provides many of
the same opportunities as the main shows, but also gives local high school and college students
outside of the Board of Directors the opportunity to choose and direct a show. Additionally it
provides a way for students to remain involved in theatre over the summer,when the schools'
departments are not active.
The February 48 is also designed to push boundaries, especially the boundary of time.
Unlike One Song's three main shows and summer show, The February 48 is not a full-length
show, but rather a series of one-act plays, all of which are written, rehearsed, and performed by
students over the course of a single weekend. Students are assigned to groups on a Friday night.
Student writers are then given the beginning and ending lines of their plays and are asked to
write a script over the course of that night. Scripts are passed out to groups on Saturday morning,
after being reviewed by the Board of Directors, and each group is sent off to rehearse for the day,

during which all technical aspects for each show are coordinated. Groups load into the
performance space on Sunday afternoon, and rehearse in the space until their performance
Sunday night.
The goal of The February 48 is to provide unique opportunities to both experienced and
prospective actors and technicians, as well as to provide a fun, adrenaline-filled weekend for
local students. Those with experience are challenged to take all of the work and quality of a
full-length production and condense it into a single weekend, while students who are new to
theatre can explore it through an exciting and short production process.
In addition to opportunities provided by shows, One Song also provides those students
who join the Board of Directors with business and production experience. Board members see
and experience what goes into running a theatrical production company. They set budgets,
handle finances, write grant proposals, find and book rehearsal and performance spaces, and
maintain legal documents. One Song Productions is a valuable opportunity for students to
expand their theatrical vision, making it an important part of the Triangle's youth theatre
community.
Proposed Use of Grant Funds
One Song Productions would use the grant funds to support the fall and winter shows for
its 2015-2016 season. We are applying for the spring grant this year to offset the increase in costs
for space (roughly $150 increase per show),to allow for more publicity, and to produce higher
value productions. Each performance, with the exception of the summer show, is directed and
produced by the One Song Board of Directors, and the casts and technical crews are entirely
made up of high school students. All of One Song's shows are chosen to reflect modern social
issues and emerging theatrical styles that might not make an appearance in school theater
departments; One Song does this to give students an opportunity to expand their horizons with
unique and challenging roles.
Next year, we hope to begin exploring alternative space options. We currently run our
shows at Common Ground Theatre, based in Durham. We hope to explore spaces in Chapel
Hill/Carrboro (such as the Artscenter or UNC Playmakers' Theatre) to make our shows more
accessible for Orange County/Chapel Hill-Carrboro residents and hopefully increase our shows'
attendance (by having them in a central location and also a space with more seating),
We will choose our season's shows for 2015-2016 near the beginning of July (with the
exception of summer show, which is chosen by an application process). We change boards each
year, as senior board members will graduate high school and no longer serve board; we choose
shows during the middle of summer to allow returning and new board members to pitch a show.
With this grant, the One Song Board of Directors would continue to reach out to a broad
variety of high school students for acting and technical design and give them the opportunity to
work on shows that deal with unique and important issues. The Board of Directors wants to share

a love of theater and help other students work more on their theatrical skills, while also allowing
students to be involved in plays that make them think about what they, as performers, are
creating and communicating. By putting on these two productions and through more extensive
publicity, One Song hopes to get the word out to a wider range of people and create both larger
audition pools and audience sizes, which average between 35-65 people per night. While One
Song offers free shows (with a suggested $8-10 donation) that are open to the public, currently
the majority of attendees for shows are students from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.
One Song hopes, however, to be able to expand and reach a more diverse number of people. One
Song would like as many people as possible to get more involved or come see plays in the future,
and hopefully leave with a greater understanding of themes explored in its productions.

We have never faltered from confessing being impressed with the work of One Song
Productions, a company of local young people doing drama with very adult themes. One
Song, which is completely run and staffed by high-schoolers from the Chapel Hill/Carrboro
area (so their full complement changes every year), has been the source of high-level drama
and comedy since we first saw one of their shows three years ago. Because of prior
obligations, we are unable to attend their newest offering, Mr. Marmalade, going up tonight
for a three-night run at Common Ground Theatre in Durham —their usual venue.
Mr. Marmalade is a creepy story of a little girl, Lucy (Lena Cohen), whose imaginary
eponymous friend reflects the incredible dysfunctionalities she lives among, including her
mother Sookie (Anna Zurliene), who is "neglectful and promiscuous," Emily (Jax Preyer), "a
lazy slut of a babysitter," according to another reviewer, and a five-year-old boy named Larry
(Harris Middlesworth), who is a suicidal thief.
According to the author, Noah Haidle, "Mr. Marmalade is a savage black comedy about what
it takes to grow up in these difficult times." As with the other productions that One Song has
undertaken, this sounds like more than a handful of teens might be able to handle; but they
have shown they have the talent and put in the effort to consistently put on highly
commendable theater.
Mr. Marmalade will run Thursday, March 12th, through Saturday, March 14th, at Common
Ground Theatre in Durham. Tickets are suggested donation of$8 to $10 dollars. You can

1. Madeleine (Kayla Miron): Maternal, oldest of the four siblings, anxious, nostalgic,

with Madeleine, sometimes bullies Luna. Believes her parents are somehow still alive.

Scene 1 - The Clime
(Opens on Dawn, Madeleine, Luna, and Socrates sitting in a circle, on boxes. The setting is a
dark, abandoned room in a broken-down barilding. There is a campfire(?) in the center. Dmm
has her hand placed on a simple metal box-shaped machine. Socrates sits slightly apart. Luna
watches Dawn and Madeleine. Madeleine examines a slip ofpaper feeding out of the machine).
Socrates: I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known.
Machine buzzes angrily.
Madeleine (pulls the paper feed further oast and examines, reading): It says... true.
Dawn: Must be broken. When have you ever told the truth?
Madeleine: You wouldn't be able to tell the difference Dawn.
Dawn: Shut up, I'm not stupid. (To Socrates) Don't smirk, being Madeleine's favorite doesn't
make you special,just her brother. You're full of shit.
Socrates (dryly, sadly): Perhaps iamb, it's not my place to tell; (condescendingly, mockingly) of
us, who understands our present clime?

Luna: We're not climbing anything...
Madeleine: Not climb. Clime, C-L-I-M-E. It means situation. Socrates is joking. It's not hard to

Dawn (fake panic): Oh no! Knowing about it is one of the symptoms! (Luna screams).
Madeleine: Don't talk to your sister like that, Dawn, she's sensitive.
(Dawn makes a face, stands zip and takes a few paces from the group. Larva draws in the dust.
Long intense, awkward pause.)
Socrates (obviously dripping with sarcasm): Hey guys, what has two thumbs, a broken leg and a
can-do attitude?This guy! (Points at himself with his thumbs.)
Dawn: Can-do-nothing, more like. (Socrates blows a kiss with a sassy smile. Another long
pause.)
Madeleine: (Obviously changing the topic) Hey gang! Guess what we have for dinner tonight! I
was foraging in the south end and I found us an exotic delicacy from before the Sick. They call
it... a Twinkie. (Pulls out box of Twinkies, tosses it to Dawn)
Luna: What the hell are these? (Unwraps, takes a bite) Mmmmm. Still good.
Madeleine: I was surprised. I haven't seen one of those in a while.
Socrates: You're right, we should find you a boyfriend soon. (Madeleine looks angry. Dawn
chuckles, walks back. Long awkward pause.) Hey guys, there's three types of people in this
world: those who can count correctly, those who can't, and those who cling to formulaic humour
as a method of interpersonal interaction devoid of self-expression.
(Frank enters quietly and chuckles at the joke)
Frank (hobbling old man): Radical! Twinkies! Can I join y'all for a bit?
(Madeleine jumps, goes to Luna, who screams quickly. Dawn hops zip aggressively, her hand
reaching for her knife.)
Frank: Woah,hold your horses. I'm just here for some Twinkies and some conversation.
Socrates: Two treats that stand the test of time. Sit down.

Dawn: Hell no, man. You stay away from my cripple brother. You're probably Sick or
something, look at your skin! It's all.. saggy. And with that limp.. I know the Sick when I see it.
Frank: I'm not ill (confusion at the word ill), this is just what happens when you get old.*
Luna: What's old?
Frank: My dear girl, I've been on this earth for over seventy years. I've been around since before
you were born; heck, I've been around since before this city died.
Luna (pauses, then insistently): What. Is. Old.
Frank: The body decays as time takes its toll. I've watched everything and everyone around me
fall apart for years; I suppose it's only fitting my body should do the same.
Luna: WHAT IS OLD?!
Madeleine: Shhhh honey-child. He's just a silly man, don't pay him any mind.
Dawn (to Frank): Alright, I guess you can join us. But just one Twinkie.
Socrates: I guess that's all Madeleine can hope for.
Dawn: You're pretty frank for a crazy man. All that"I'm dying, woe is me." You sound like
Socrates here.
Frank: That's just the way things are now. Gotta face it like it is. (Bites into his Twinkie to let the
moment linger.) Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm having the time of my life.
Socrates: With most your life behind you, you can tell.
Frank: At least I have a life,prick. (4wkwardpause, then laughing hysterically to himself.) Why
would I say that?
Dawn: He can't walk,you know. I told you that. It's kind of his thing. (Pause).
Frank (searching, to Dawn): Where are your parents?
(All three turn to Madeleine. Madeleine looks to Dawn.)
Dawn: We don't know.
Madeleine: They're dead.
Dawn: You don't know that. We never-

Madeleine: They're dead, Dawn.
Luna: Dawn, let it go, please. Madeleine knows-
Dawn (mockingly): "Madeleine knows, Madeleine knows." Screw Madeleine, screw you!
(Dawn throws her Twinkie in Madeleine's face, storms offi
Socrates: There's a joke in there somewhere.. gimme a minute... (Fade it, drank)
Scene 2 - Questions
(Thirty minutes later. Stage is split in two, Socrates and Frank on one side at the campfire, Dawn
alone on other in a deserted street)
Socrates: Tell me about the way it used to be.
Frank: It was beautiful. Nothing but lights and people... everywhere was gold, frankincense and
myrrh. The towering buildings were all lit up at night, and the streets so packed with people that
you couldn't be alone even if you wanted to. And the music... music everywhere. People were
just happy to be alive.
Socrates: I wonder what that's like. Y'know, happiness.
(Switch. Luna enters on Dawn's side, hesitantly).
Luna: Dawn... I'm sad. I'm scared. Madeleine never tells me anything. She doesn't do
questions.
Dawn: Beat it, squirt, or I'll beat you. In the face.
Luna: Dawn.. come on. I deserve to know.
Dawn: Why? (Beat) You were too young to remember. At the time, we all thought you'd
remember. But you don't.
Luna: What are you talking about?
(Switch)
Frank: I'm talking about recd happiness. The kind that doesn't come in a cardboard box. (Pause)
Reference to the Twinkies.
Socrates: So the other kind of treat? The people?

Frank: The people.
(S",itch)
Dawn: They're all dead. All of them. Why should mom and dad be different?
Luna: Frank's not dead.
Dawn: Frank's not dad, either, Luna. He's not here for us. No one is here for us. You think
Madeleine is here for you? You think she takes care of you because she cares about you? It's
cause she needs it. She'd be lost without you to distract her from her pain.
(Snitch)
Frank: Tell me about your siblings.
Socrates: It's all been said before; there's nothing left.
Frank: C'mon. You've got something to say that I know nothing about. A family.
Socrates: And look where that has gotten me; nowhere.
(Switch)
Luna: She takes care of me. Of all of us. Even if she takes care of herself too,that's not a sin.
She's doing it in her own way. She's getting what she needs. She's.. not happy. But she's
surviving.
Dawn and Frank,together: You're wrong.
Scene 3 - The Valuable Things
(Frank, Luna, and Madeleine outside, night.)
Frank (to Luna): You're crazy.
Luna: YOU'RE crazy, old man.
Frank: I'm not! My mother had me tested!
Madeleine: Keep looking, we're bound to find something useful.
Frank: Besides, if I was crazy,there's no way your big sister would let me hang around you, is
there?

Luna: I can protect myself, you know. I'm not that much younger than you. I've been on this
earth for some time, old man.
Frank: How old do you think I am?
Luna: We look for things on the ground every day. Seems silly to look for valuables on the
ground. Things we could really use, that are important, we're gonna find in much more special
places.
Frank (looking at Madeleine): You know, I reckon you're right.
Madeleine: Come on, Luna, keep up.
Scene 4 - Shakespearean Professions
(The next day. "The gang" is exploring the city. Socrates is in a wheelchair. The others stand,
looking into the distance. Frank enters while Madeleine is talking)
Madeleine: Jeez... It sure is sunny out today. Brighter than it's been in weeks. Spring's coming,
I suppose.
(Frank approaches)
Socrates: But that's the only thing,right, Madeleine? Can I get a hell yeah!
Frank: Hell yeah!
Socrates: Hey! You're back.
Madeleine: Stop being so immature Socrates. (Pause.) It sure is beautiful. The cityscape, I mean.
(Pause) Luna, do you remember when you were little we used to take you up on every big
building we could find? You loved being up high. You used to say it made you feel big, like
everything was small enough to reach out and grab.
Luna: That's stupid. Why would I want this dump?
Frank: Hey! This used to be a thriving metropolis full of vibrant life and extraordinary people!
(Aaron Josephs walks across stage.)
Madeleine: Doesn't matter what it used to be.
Socrates: To be or not to be?That is the quest.... damn. Too many syllables. One of my worst
lines yet.

Madeleine: What matters is that we have each other.
Dawn: Do we?
Madeleine: And with the help of each other, we can survive this harsh urban environment. Fears
and scruples are nothing when have each other.
Socrates: Look at that sky. In the great hand of God I stand. (Scoffs) If this is the play (s)he's
organized,the "great director" is abominable.
Luna: Who is God?
Frank: Frankly, I wonder that myself. But-
Madeleine: And, Luna, see how beautiful it still is? Just like when you were little.
Dawn (sarcastically): Yeah, exactly like when you were born. Can't think of anything that's
changed.
Madeleine: Dawn, what is your deal today? Calm down and enjoy the fantastic view.
Socrates: Yeah! This incredible view of a desolated city! The only thing deader is Madeleine's
sex life! Hell yeah?
Frank: Hell yeah! (They high-five).
Madeleine: Luna, look at those clouds!
Dawn (breaking): Madeleine, get your head out of your ass. (Beat)
Madeleine: I don't think-
Dawn: Yeah, that's right,you don't.
Madeleine: What are you talking about!
Dawn: Luna asked me about Mom and Dad (Pause)
Madeleine (upset): I told you, I don't do questions
Dawn: You don't care,you mean! You pretend to be some great savior, our new mother! The
one to guide us through this shithole of a life! But really it's just some mask you put on to erase
the pain! To forget about Mom! Dad! US!
Madeleine: That's not true! We were left alone! I had no choice but to take control!

Dawn: Take control? Of what?I don't need you, Madeleine! None of us do!
Madeleine: Your brother can't walk! Your sister doesn't even know where we are!
Dawn (Beginning to overlap): And why is that? You never answer her questions!
Madeleine (Starting on "why'): She's too young! She wouldn't be able to cope!
Socrates (on cope): The empty vessel makes the loudest sound!
(All at once)
-Dawn: How can you possibly begin to help us when you can't even help yourself? Look at you!
-Madeleine (quickly): You're selfish is what you are. You think you're more important than the
survival of the group? You think that's your call?
-Socrates (loud and slowly,for his oven benefit): Nothing can come of nothing. Wisely, and slow.
They stumble that run fast
(Frank falls during spat).
Frank: Oh god!
Luna: Mister! Are you okay? Guys, please stop it! Please! Stop it!!! (They finally stop).
Socrates: Frank..?
Frank: I'm okay. I'm getting old. You know how it is.
Luna: We don't.
Frank: I just need a nap. I'm alright. But my life is winding down. You know how it is.
Dawn: We don't.
Frank: It was really just nice to meet you folks. It breaks the monotony,you know.
Socrates: We really don't.
Frank: Thanks for letting me come around,just for one more day. Tomorrow I'll be off. Gotta
keep moving, you know.
Madeleine: Mister... we really don't know.
Frank: I'll get going now. Anyways... I certainly am awfully glad to see you again.
