Members present ware Chairman R, 0. Forrest ¢nd Commissioners Sim L. 5riend end R, T. 'd, Hobbs. Several enpe ale were brought to the at tontion of the Aoard. After e study of these deeds the board ordered that the listing of land for the ;dcFarl ing Hairs be adjusted to comnl9 with the deeds for the veer 1952 and thereafter. This adjustment to apply to both the number of acres listed and the assessment placed on this land. Forrest Chairmen of Hoard li i ~f' ~ ~, The Hoard of Commmissloners met on 5[onday, Fferch 16, 1953 in the State Highway Petrol Office. Tdembera present wars Chairman R. 0. Forrest and Commiss ionera R. S. fit. Hobbs and Sim L. Eland. The Board opsned sealed bids for the purchase of a pickup truck for the use of the County Dog 'Harden. After a consideration of e11 the proposals, it was moved, seconded and unanimously passed, that the board reject all the bids. It was moved by Cortmriss S.oner Efland end eacbnded by Cormniseioners Hobbs end unanimously passed that the county purchase e pickup truck through the Health Department end the I~i. C. Department of Purchase and Contr¢ct. Fir. G. ?. Carr, County Sunerinte ndent of Schools, apoeered end reeuosted that the Hoard pass a resolution asking the State Highway and Public 47orks ''Commiesi on to abandon a portion of the road which divides the West Hillsboro School property. Nmv, therefore, upon motion of Commissioner Hobbs, seconded by Commiasione. Efland, the following resolution eras unanimously approved: CHAIIGE IIJ C^i1NTY ROAD 'S7tEREAS, The Hoard of Education of Orange County has acquired the fifahaffey property immedia taly behind the nrssent R'e at Hillsboro School grounds for playground purposes; end 'rREREAS, the property on both aides of the street is owned by the Hoard of Education oS Orange County; and Z'AEREAS, vehicles passing along said road would constitute a traffic hazard for students going to end from the playground; PtOFJ, be it resolved: That the Board of Commissioners of Orange Covnty doe: hereby reouest the N. 0. State Highway and Public 47orL•s Conmi ssion to close the 200 ft. of road which intersects school property and discontinue it Tor public use. The Board set its next meeting for Tuesday, April 7, 1953, thereby allorr- 1ng the County Employees to observe Easter Ftondey es a holiday. It was brought to the attention of the Hoard that I'rs. '.achel Crutchfield has listed 50 acres of lend for county taxes for the veers 1945 through 1952, which the same land was listed by the Goerge Crutchfield Heirs. The Hoard was further advised that the Orange County Superior Court has ordera3 that Lfrs. Crutchfield be refunded the taxes she paid on this property Tor these veers. It was moved, seconded and unanimously passed that Elrs. Crutchfield be refunded these taxes from the General Fund Emergencg A.ppropriati on, upon presentation oT e demand in writing for such a refund, either by idrs. Crutchfield or her attorney.
