BACKGROUND: The Director of Asset Management Services is authorized to declare items surplus up to $5,000. Currently the Solid Waste Department has the following vehiclethat is nolonger needed and therefore needs to be sold. Itis anticipated itwill exceed the $5,000threshold. Asset Equipment YearSerial/VIN Number Roll Off Truck20071681 1FVHALCG37DX46685 Originally, it was planned to surplus the truck listed below(Asset #1779), and itwas approved to be surplused by the Board of Commissioners at itsDecember 9, 2014 meeting. Since thattime,due to delays in receiving new equipment and an untimely breakdown, vehicle #1779 has undergone significant repairs making it a more reliable backup vehicle than vehicle #1681 (above). Therefore staff plans to continue utilizing Asset #1779 in the recyclingdivision fleet. RECOMMENDATION(S) The Manager recommends thatthe Board: 1) declare Roll Off Truck/Asset : Number 1681 as surplus and 2) authorize the AMS Director to affect thesale of the itemthrough GovDeals. 2 TO: GAYLE WILSON Director of Solid Waste Eric Gerringer Recycling Manager FR: LARRY SLAUGHTER Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor Date: April 22, 2015 Subject: Surplus Vehicle Sale Change The following is a request for change concerning the sale of Surplus Vehicles. On December 9, 2014 The Orange County Board of Commissioners app vehicles. These vehicles were to be disposed of by sales conduct-Deals program. One (1) vehicle that was designated for sale was a Roll-off Truck, Unit # 1779. This is a 2009 Freightliner vehicle. This vehicle was to be sold upon arrival of a new replacement tr replacement to arrive, this unit required repairs that has made this unit more reliable and can continue to be utilized within the Recycle Feet. It is requested that we substitute unit # 1681 roll off truck instead. This unit is a 2007 Freightliner and is a less reliable asset for fleet use. Sale of this unit is expected to exceed the value of $5,000.00 and funds from this sale will be deposited to the Solid Waste Enterprise F Your time to review this request is greatly appreciated.
