PURPOSE:To present information re:the possibilities available for development of new court space;
and to receive information regarding the floor plan proposed for the Sheriff's Department renovation.
BACKGROUND: The Commissioners were presented with proposals in January,1994 to accomplish
the following:
♦ Create additional courtroom space on the upper floor of the New Courthouse through
renovation. During these discussions the Board requested additional information regarding the
feasibility of adding court space to the New Courthouse rather than renovating existing; and
♦ Renovation of the Sheriff's Department offices to allow more efficient utilization of the
existing space.
Architects for both projects will be in attendance at the Commissioners meeting to share information,
and answer the Commissioner's questions.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board receive the information and provide
direction regarding scope of work and funding level for each project in order that projects can move
forward expeditiously.
