PURPOSE: To consider subsidizing the Parents ' School Grounds
Maintenance Committee of New Hope Elementary School in
their procurement of mulch from the LOG Landfill.
BACKGROUND: As the attached letter indicates, Dr. R. C. Kennedy
requested the Landfill Owners Group to waive the fee
on mulch for this Parents' Volunteer Committee. The
mulch is to be used this spring for beautification and
erosion control around New Hope School. The LOG
considered the request on March 17 and also discussed
the standing policy of not discounting or waiving
fees. At the April 7 meeting of the LOG, a motion
failed to approve this request.
RECOMMENDATION: To consider a $250. 00 subsidy to the Parents' School
Grounds Maintenance Committee for mulch that will
allow them to complete their project in a timely
manner. Funds to come from BOCC Contingency Fund.

I am writing you as the parent of a child from New Hope
Elementary School. As a member of the school grounds
maintenance committee I request that, for New Hope Elementary
School, the log waive its usual fee .-for mulch dispensed 'from
the landfill so that we can complete beautification and
erosion control projects . It seems reasonable for a county
landfill to give mulch to a county school. ' We would
certainly appreciate any donation. 'I estimate we need* S_°
approximately fifty cubic yards for 'upcomino projects.
