PURPOSE: To confirm the charge to the Proposed Work Group for
the I-40/Old NC 86 Economic Development District
BACKGROUND: When the Board of Commissioners approved the Economic
Development District proposals on March 2, approval of
the I-40/Old NC 86 District was withheld, pending a
Orange County-Hillsborough initiative to jointly plan
that District, including the area to the north along
Old NC 86.
At its March 15 meeting, the Board of Commissioners
continued discussion on the process and identified the
following preliminary guidelines:

participate, but representation will be limited
to the above groups; and citizens will be given

the opportunity to make statements or raise
questions during each meeting.
3 . A County representative should serve as Chair.
The Board asked that the Chair of the Commissioners
and the County Manager draft a proposal and bring it
back for consideration at a meeting in April.

District and the area east and west of Old NC 86
