Background
Department of Social Services
(1) The State has allocated additional day care funds totalling $33,814 to Orange County. No additional
County monies are required for the receipt of these funds. This allocation will bring the County's day
care budget to $604,784.
(2) Orange County has received additional Home and Community Care Block Grant funds from the
State. These funds will be used in the Subsidy program of this department. No additional County
funds are needed in order to receive the $4,601 allocation.
Non-Departmental
(3) Additional State Community Based Alternatives (CBA) funding has been awarded to Orange County.
Four existing programs are receiving the additional $14,990 for the 1993-94 fiscal year. These
programs include: Sheaffer House ($2,632); Dispute Settlement Center - Victim Offender
Reconciliation Program ($1,500); Lutheran Family Services - Volunteer Families for Children Program
($7,858); and, Volunteers for Youth - Juvenile Community Services Program ($3,000).
(4) On March 15, 1994, the Board of County Commissioners approved a $600 appropriation from the
Commissioners' Contingency. This funding request, from the Pine Knolls Community Development
Adolescent After School Program, will allow this after school program to maintain its facilities
(janitorial services) through June 30, 1994.
(5) The Board of County Commissioners, on March 15, 1994, approved a $2,200 appropriation from
their Contingency account. This allocation will enable the Cable TV Citizen Advisory Committee to
disseminate a public input survey regarding cable television service within the County. This survey is
one means for the Committee to gather required public input as part of the cable refranchising
process.
