BACKGROUND: At the October 9, 2007 regular meeting, the Board authorized staff to continue to develop the potential partnership between Orange County and Sports Endeavors as well as partnerships with other community entities. The Board may recall that Sports Endeavors' offer included a $150,000 "challenge" to other community businesses. Parks and Recreation staff has been working with the Planning Department along with Visitor's Bureau and the Hillsborough and Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce staffs to determine the limitations for signage with possible sign code amendments in the Economic Development District and to develop the materials attached. The soccer center is currently under construction with a time line indication that signage will need to be ordered over the summer. Staff proposes to bring the complete partnership package to the Board for final consideration in June. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Up to $490,000 in revenue could potentially be raised in exchange for five-year naming rights, for up to 11 entities. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive and review the attached documents. j n rs~•e~.r~m.. ~ ~ a 4*~ L C ~ ~ L ~^ T ~~ o s ~ ~O b ,' b0 ,~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~=_ a 3 v o N ' ~ ~ ' , ~ ~ -o p ~ ~ o m v E • ~ & ~ ~k°$~ Q O ~ v v ~ n O 'D ~ ~ O _ . ~ O. ~. i ((''~~ N V N _ bD ty ~~ ~ . ~ d v 'D LL_ O ~ ~...n _.
