PURPOSE: To receive the County Manager' s Recommended 1994-99 Capital
Improvement Plan.
BACKGROUND:
Each year, the County Commissioners discuss and then adopt a five year
Capital Improvement Plan that is designed to plan, budget, and account
for long-lived assets that involve large expenditures, often extended
over multi-year periods. Items typically included in the CIP are
construction, refurbishment, or purchases of buildings; land acquisition
or improvement; and major equipment acquisition and financing. The CIP
process offers the opportunity for periodic, scheduled review of long-
term capital needs, and permits timely acquisition and phased financing
of major assets .
Staff will make a brief report on significant aspects of the proposed
1994-99 CIP and respond to any Commissioner comments or questions. No
decisions are required at this time, as a public hearing and further
discussion and deliberation are planned for subsequent meetings of the
Board of Commissioners .
RECOMMENDATION:
The Manager recommends that the Board receive this report for information
only at this time. The Manager further recommends that the Board of
County Commissioners establish a public hearing date of March 15 to
receive public comment on the recommended CIP.
