At the Board’sJanuary 22, 2015 regular meeting, petitions were brought forthwhich were reviewed by
the Chair/ViceChair/Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below:
1)Review and consider a requestby Commissioners Rich and Dorosin that the County Attorney provide
Greensboro’s LGBT ordinance provisions to the BOCC and provide information to the Board for
potential adoption of similar provisions.
Response
:Greensboro ordinance provisions already provided to BOCC; County Attorney to bring
back information/proposed item for Board consideration.
2)Review and consider a request by Commissioner Rich that the Board receive information on how
the County provides job opportunities for teens at risk similar to efforts already underway in
Durham.
Response:
Manager to consult with County Human Resources; DSS Director to talk with
Durham.
4)Review and consider a request by Commissioner Rich that County staff investigate “Just
Economics” living wage initiative and ways it can be implemented in Orange County.
Response:
Manager to investigate and provide follow up.
5)Review and consider a request byCommissioner Dorosin that the Board consider a policy
regarding the distribution level(s) and the targeted uses of ABC revenues.
Response
:BOCC Chair to contact County ABC Board Chair; Manager to contact County ABC
Executive Director.
6)Review and consider a request byCommissioner Dorosin that the Board consider moving Board
Comments up earlier in regular meeting agendas.
Response:
To be reviewed and considered –potential discussion at BOCC Retreat or subsequent
work session.
7)Review and consider a request by Commissioner Dorosin that the Colonial Inn and any potential
role the County can play on helping with it be a topic for the February 26 joint meeting with
Hillsborough.
Response
:To be included in review of planned agenda topicsfor Joint Meeting.
8)Review and consider request by Commissioner Price that staff follow-up on the Arts Commission
website for updating out of date information.
Response
:Updating of website is in process.
