PURPOSE: Since the Orange County Planning Board plays such a vital role in
Orange County, it would be desirable to ask planning board applicants for
additional information similar to that asked of those who are interested
in serving on the OWASA Board. Municipal planning boards also play
important roles. The Application Supplement is designed to obtain that
information.
BACKGROUND:
Some time ago the Board of Commissioners (BOCC) began using an Application
Supplement for OWASA Board applicants so that the BOCC could make more
fully informed decisions on those appointments. It seems appropriate to
take the same step for planning boards since they advise the BOCC, or
elected officials of municipal governments on crucial land use decisions.
In particular, the Orange County Planning Board is more involved than ever
in making recommendations on complicated issues that are important to all
citizens of orange County.
RECOMMENDATION(S) : To approve the application supplement as attached for
citizens who are interested in serving on the Orange County Planning Board
or on one of the municipal planning boards as an Orange County appointee.
