PURPOSE: To consider appointments to the Criminal Justice Facility Study Group.
BACKGROUND: On January 4,1994 the Board of Commissioners approved a resolution establishing
the Criminal Justice Facility Study Group,which is to include the Chief Superior Court Judge,Chief
District Court Judge,the District Attorney,the Clerk of Court,the Sheriff of Orange County, County
Commissioners, representatives of the Juvenile Services Division, Probation and Parole, the
Guardian ad litem program, the Public Defender, representative from Child Support Enforcement,
representative from a citizens crime watch group and municipal Task Forces on Crime and other
municipal representatives,a representative from the Orange County Bar Association,and members
of the. County's staff to include, but not limited to, the County Manager and the Director of
Purchasing and Central Services, and others as deemed appropriate.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Board appoint the following members:
Chief Superior Court Judge, Gordon Battle
Chief District Court Judge, Patricia Love
District Attorney, Carl Fox
Clerk of Court, Shirley James
Sheriff, Lindy Pendergrass
Orange County Manager,John Link
Orange County Director of Purchasing and Central Services, Pam Jones
It is further recommended that the Chair, or his designate, be authorized to contact the Chair or
Department Head as appropriate to solicit participant recommendations from the following groups
for appointment at an upcoming meeting:
Juvenile Services Probation and Parole
Guardian ad litem program Public Defender
Orange County Child Support Enforcement Citizens Crime Watch group
Municipal Task Forces on Crime Orange County Bar Association
