PURPOSE: To consider awarding a bid for the replacement of the roof at
the Northern Human Services Center in Cedar Grove.
BACKGROUND: County staff recently solicited bids for the replacement
of the roof at the Northern Human Services Center. The low bid
received was for $359,356, which significantly exceeded the amount
available in the capital project budget. Following staff discussions
about the uses of the building and the investment involved in putting
on a new roof, specifications were modified to request bids for a roof
with a guaranteed life of 10 years. The low bid received is for
$193,920, which is within the funds available for this capital project.
A tabulation of bid results is attached.
RTD Roofing Engineering, the designer of the roof, has provided a
background check for the lowest bidder, and has recommended award be
made to the lowest bidder - Guaranteed Systems of Stoneville, NC.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends: that the Board award the bid
for roof replacement at the Northern Human Services Center to
Guaranteed Systems; that a contract be approved, contingent upon
Attorney and staff review; and that the Chair be authorized to sign on
behalf of the Board.
