PURPOSE: To acknowledge receipt of the Government Finance
Officers' Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achieve-
ment and recognize the individuals responsible for
this achievement .
BACKGROUND: The GFOA Certificate of Achievement recognizes
excellence in government financial reporting. The
Certificate of Achievement is generally acknowledged
as the highest form of recognition in the area of
governmental accounting and financial reporting and
its attainment represents a significant accomplishment
by an entity and its management .
Orange County has been awarded the Certificate of
Achievement each year since 1982 . Each year the
eligibility standards for the award become more
stringent . The Finance staff is to be commended for
their ability to consistently meet the high standards
reflected by this award.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that Ken Chavious and his
Finance staff be recognized for their accomplishments
in being awarded the GFOA Certificate of Achievement
for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1994 .
